PFC Kenneth Walter Bledsoe

PFC Kenneth Walter Bledsoe was born 28 May 1924 in Roane County, Tennessee to Walter Murray and Mary Emma (Fuller) Bledsoe.  He had one brother.  In 1930, Walter was a truck driver for the Tennessee Power Company.

Kenneth volunteered for Army service enlisting 24 Feb 1943. He had basic training at Camp Wheeler, GA then was sent to England where hewas assigned to K Company 116th Infantry.  He was with that unit for the D-Day landing and was killed in action 2 days later on 8 Jun 1944.

PFC Kenneth Bledsoe was awarded the Bronze Star posthumously.  We have yet to find the citation.  

He was repatriated and is now buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, Tennessee.
