TSGT Larry Gant Colquitt

TSGT Larry Gant Colquitt was born in 1919 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia to Larry Gault and Rosa Nell (Bryant) Colquitt. The family farmed even after the elder Larry died in 1928.  On 2 Apr 1940, Larry was already in the army and serving as a military policeman at Fort Benning, Georgia. 

At some point Larry was retrained as an infantryman and reassigned to I Company 116th Infantry.  He landed with the unit in the amphibious assault on the Normandy beach code-named Omaha.  TSGT Colquitt was killed in action 2 days later, on 8 Jun 1944. 

TSGT Colquitt is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
