CPL Roland A. Poisson

CPL Roland A. Poisson was born 23 Apr 1919 in Saskatchewan Province, Canada. He was the 3rd of the 9 children born to George Etienne and Marie Bernadette (Jacques) Poisson. The family moved to Lewiston, Maine about 1923. His father worked as a carpenter reporting a 1939 income of $600. The oldest 3 children were also working contributing $1100 to the household.

Roland was drafted in July 1942. He had already served a term in the Maine National Guard and had recently been discharged. We don't know what he did in the interim but on 12 Jul 1944 he was transferred from the replacment depot to F Company 116th Infantry. CPL Poisson was killed in action near Saint Lo, France on 12 Jul 1944.

CPL Poisson was repatriated and re-interred in Saint Peters Cemetery in Lewiston, Maine.

Brothers also served: Ovide Narcisse Poisson, Gilbert Alex Poisson and Gerard Ovide Poisson served in the U.S. Army during WWII, Richard A Poisson served as a PVT in the USMC in Korea, Auguste Mozart Poisson, served as a SSG in the USMC in Vietnam.
