CPL Vincent Dimitry Jurisich was born 7 Nov 1918 in Olga, Louisiana to Joseph and Dominica (Bujacich) Jurisich.  Born in Dalmatia, his father made his living fishing all things, that is he was a waterman.  In 1940 Vincent is recorded on the census as working as an oysterman.

However, Vincent was working as a truck driver when he was drafted in August 1941.  After his initial training he may have been assigned to Anti-Tank Company 116th Infantry before the regiment shipped out for England in September 1942.  He was certainly with the unit in the amphibious assault at Omaha Beach on 6 Jun 1944.  On 11 Jul 1944 he was seriously wounded and evacuated to hospital where he died of his wounds on 12 Jul 1944.

CPL Jurisich was repatriated in 1948 and is buried with many family members in Saint Rochs Campo Santo #1 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
