PVT Kenneth F. Novy

PVT Kenneth F. Novy was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1924. He was the only child of Frank Earl (or August) and Rose (Prucha) Novy. Rose died in October 1927 and his father re-married in November 1928. His father worked on the railroad for many years reporting a 1939 income of $2400. In 1930 the family lived in a home owned by Frank at 4524 Jewett Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio which was valued at $2800. The family apparently sold that home and in 1940 rented a house for $25 a month at 1209 Foster Street in Youngstown. Kenneth was able to complete high school and took a job in a factory.

Kenneth was drafted in October 1943. After his basic combat training he was sent to the European theater and on 19 Jun 1944 was transferred from the replacement depot to Headquarters and Headquarters Company 3rd Battalion 116th Infantry and was almost immediately sent from there to L Company 116th Infantry to serve as a rifleman. PVT Novy was killed in action on 12 Jul 1944.

PVT Novy is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
