PVT Lawrence E. Jackson

PVT Lawrence E. Jackson was born in 1918 in Paterson, New Jersey to William E. and Florence Abbie (Davis) Jackson. His father was an insurance agent and his mother kept house for another family, doing what they had to do to support their family of eight.  In 1940, Lawrence was working as a stock clerk in a shirt factory and had reported a 1939 income of $780. In 1941 or 1942 Lawrence was married to Ida Frields.  In 1943 they had a daughter.

After entering service and completing basic training, Lawrence was sent to Europe and transferred from the replacement depot to Headquarters Company 1st Battalion 116th Infantry on 22 Jun 1944.  PVT Jackson was killed in action on 13 Jul 1944. 

PVT Jackson is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery. Ida did remarry.  Their daughter was also married and Lawrence had 3 grandchildren.
