PVT Leo Hunt

PVT Leo Hunt was born 26 Mar 1925 in Fairmont, North Carolina to William H. and .  In 1940, father and son worked on the farm owned by Ander Ivey of Route 3, Fairmont.  The family are noted on the census documents as "Indian" likely they are Lumbee.

Leo entered the service in June 1942.  After his initial training Leo was eventually sent to England and the replacement depot from which he was transferred on 22 Jun 1944 to F Company 116th Infantry.  PVT Hunt was killed in action on 12 Jul 1944.

PVT Hunt is buried in the New Bethel Church Cemetery in Lumberton, North Carolina.
