PVT Steve Nagy Jr.

PVT Steve Nagy Jr. was born19 Jul 1909 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was the 2nd of 4 children born to Steve and Lidia (Gulyas) Nagy. Both parents were natives of Hungary. His father worked in a cement shop, an iron works and in construction. In 1941 Steven married Rose M. Troyan. The couple would have a daughter born in October 1942.

Steve was drafted in October 1943. After basic training, PVT Nagy was sent to England and assigned to F Company 116th Infantry. He had some training for the amphibious assault that would take place on 6 Jun 1944. After that he continued to fight with the unit until 11 Jul 1944 when he was wounded and sent to hospital eventually arriving in England. PVT Nagy died of his wound(s) on 17 Jul 1944, apparently in a hospital near London.

PVT Nagy was repatriated in 1949 and re-interred in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

Rose never re-married and is buried next to Steve.
