Wagoner Grady W. Jackson

Wagoner Grady W. Jackson was born 8 Oct 1895 in Hickory Flat, Mississippi. He was the oldest of 8 children born to Willis Houston and Mattie Belle (Gunter) Jackson. The family farmed. Grady left school to help his father farm.

After being drafted, Grady was assigned to Supply Company 116th Infantry.  He sailed with the unit to France aboard the USS Finland departing Hoboken, New Jersey on 15 Jun 1918 and arriving at the port of Saint Nazaire, France on 28 Jun 1918. After the regiment went through training in trench warfare and acclimatization in a "quiet" sector on the front it was part of a major offensive that began on 8 Oct 1918. Wagoner Jackson was wounded and died of his wound(s) on 11 Oct 1918.

Wagoner Jackson was repatriated and re-interred with many family members in Flat Rock Cemetery in Hickory Flat, Mississippi.
