PFC Jessie O'Brien Burns

PFC Jessie O'Brien Burns was born 10 Dec 1915 in Campbell County, Virginia to Pleasant Wyatt and Annie Virginia (Childress) Burns.  Pleasant was a sawyer.  In 1940 Jessie was working as an ore grinder in a paint factory.  The entire family made $1162 in 1939. 

Jessie was drafted in May 1941.  Eventually assigned to G Company 116th Infantry, he was with the unit on D-Day.  Jessie was killed in action on 16 Jun 1944.

PFC Burns is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery. 

Brother Percy Hardin Burns also served during WWII.
