PFC Wallace Reid Carter was born in Bedford, Virginia on 31 Jan 1923 to James Davis and Georgia May (Tate) Carter. He was one of 4 children born to the couple. His father worked for "the railroad" but which railroad is uncertain. Wallace was assigned to A Company 116th Infantry and is one of the "Bedford Boys" killled 6 Jun 1944. His body was repatriated and he now rests in
Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford, Virginia.
