PVT Walter Reed Walters

PVT Walter Reed Walters was born 11 Mar 1905 in Newmansville, Pennsylvania to Elmer Scott and Edith Esiola (Jennings) Walters.  One of 7 children, 4 brothers, 2 of his brothers died before 1940. 

Walter was unmarried when drafted in May 1942.  He was eventually assigned to L Company 116th Infantry serving with that unit on 6 Jun 1944 for the D-Day landings.  He was killed in action on 7 Jun 1944.

His body was returned in 1948 and he was buried in Amity Cemetery in Newmansville, Pennsylvania near many family members.
