PFC Robert J. Medla

PFC Robert J.Medla was born 11 Apr 1924 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was the 2nd of 3 sons born to John and Julia (Mihocik) Medla. Both parents were natives of Slovakia. His father was a bricklayer who reported a 1939 income of $1000. Robert attended 3 years of high school and had begun to work in a machine shop.

Robert was drafted in May 1943. After training and possible service in some other unit he was transferred from the replacement depot to K Company 116th Infantry on 5 Jul 1944. PFC Medla was killed in action on 11 Jul 1944.

PFC Medla was repatriated and re-interred in the Lutheran Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
