PFC Walter John Olencki

PFC Walter John Olencki was born 12 Sep 1924 in Newark, New Jersey. He was the only child of Felix J. and Anna T. (Grabowska) Olencki. Both parents were natives of Poland. His father worked as a polisher, his mother for General Electric. The family lived for several years at 49 Holland in Newark.

Walter was probably drafted in late 1943. After his initial military training he was sent to the European theater. PFC Olencki was transferred from the replacement depot to G Company 116th Infantry on 13 Aug 1944. He was killed in action on 3 Sep 1944.

PFC Olencki is buried in the Brittany American Cemetery.
