PVT Russell D. Jones was born 4 Sep 1922 in Bernie, Missouri to Russel Gale and Clemmie Augstal (Chadwell) Jones. The family farmed.
Russell was drafted in March 1943, still working as a farm hand. Sent to Europe, he was transferred to E Company 116th Infantry from the replacement depot on 9 Aug 1944. PVT Jones was killed in action on 4 Sep 1944.
PVT Jones is buried in the Bernie Memorial Cemetery in Bernie, Missouri.
