PFC Bobby Franklin Shaw

PFC Bobby Franklin Shaw was born in Bonham, Texas on 18 Mar 1925. He was the youngest of the 4 children born to Warren Wayne and Myrtle Florence (Medford) Shaw. His father died shortly after he was born. His mother worked in a garment factory to support her family. Bobby went to work for the Haggar Company in Dallas, Texas.

Bobby was drafted in January 1944. After his basic military training PVT Shaw was sent to the European theater. It is unclear when he was transferred to L Company 116th Infantry but he was with the unit when he was promoted to PFC on 21 Sep 1944. PFC Shaw was killed in action near Aachen, Germany on 7 Oct 1944.

PFC Shaw was repatriated and re-interred in the Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, Texas.

His oldest brother, Wayne Paschal Shaw, served as a PR3c aboard the USS Vela Gulf (CVE-111), an escort carrier which served in the Pacific theater.
