PVT John Edward Heaney

PVT John Edward Heaney was born 27 Aug 1891 in Brooklyn, New York.  He had at least one sister, Anna, and lived at 180 Williams Avenue in Brooklyn.  His sister lived just 3 blocks away at 177 Sheffield Avenue. John worked as a marble polisher at the Eastern New York Marble Company supporting himself and his mother.  He was inducted on 3 May 1918 and assigned to E Company 116th Infantry on 20 May 1918 at Camp McClellan, Alabama. He was then transported to France with his unit aboard the USS Finland leaving Hoboken, New Jersey on 15 Jun 1918.  PVT Heaney was killed in action on 25 Oct 1918.
