PFC David Thomas Hayes

PFC David Thomas Hayes was born in Brookland, Virginia on 4 Aug 1919 to Robert and Annie Elmira (Roach) Hayes. His father was a house painter.  In 1940 David was also working as a house painter, most likely with his father.

David was drafted in April 1942.  After his training he was sent to England and prepared for the amphibious assault that would take place on 6 Jun 1944 with his assigned unit, I Company 116th Infantry.  PFC went ashore with that unit and was killed in action on 17 Jun 1944.

PFC Hayes is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
