PFC Harry Junior DeWitt

PFC Harry Junior DeWitt was born 24 Aug 1921 in Muncie,Indiana, the son of Harry H. and Beatrice (Wade) DeWitt of Fort Wayne, Indiana. His father had worked for railroad and been a machine operator for Muncie Chevrolet doing well enough to purchase a house which was valued at $2000 in 1940. Young Harry attended Central High School in Muncie and graduated in 1941. He was working for Muncie Chevrolet with his father when he registered for the draft in 1942.

Drafted in December 1942.  Assigned to B Company 116th Infantry on 13 Jun 1944. Killed in action 17 Jun 1944.  Buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
