PFC William John Kasperwicz was born in 23 Aug 1916 in Boonton, New Jersey. We think that his parents were William Stephen and Mary Vincenta (Janoelvicz) Kasperowicz. Both parents were natives of Poland, his father being born in Vilna (Vilnius).
William was drafted in February 1942. He was sent to England after his training and assigned to G Company 116th Infantry. He trained with that unit for the amphibious assault in which he took part on 6 Jun 1944. He survived the landing but went missing and it was later determined that he had been killed in action on 17 Jun 1944.
PFC Kasperwicz's body was not recovered. He is memorialized at the Normandy American Cemetery.
