PFC John Osvart was born 6 Nov 1916 in Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen, Hungary. His father's name may have been Janos Osvart. When John was drafted in March 1943 he was living in New York City and working in a chemical plant.
After his military training, John was sent to the European theater and transferred from the replacement depot to C Company 116th Infantry on 5 Jul 1944. John was killed in action on the next day, 6 Jul 1944.
In 1949, John was repatriated, returned to Hungary where he was re-interred in Teresztenye Temeto in Teresztenye, Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen, Hungary.
