PFC Lucius Douglas Holston

PFC Lucius Douglas Holston was born 5 Apr 1922 to Henry Douglas and Zular Isabella (Perry) Holston of Hale County, Alabama. The family farmed. His mother died in 1928.

Lucius was still farming when he was drafted in November 1942.  Trained and sent to England he was assigned to Headquarters 1st Battalion 116th Infantry. He participated in the D-Day landing on Omaha Beach with that unit. However, likely due to cross-leveling in the battalion to adjust for losses, he was transferred to C Company 116th Infantry on 14 Jun 1944 where he served as a BAR gunner (auto-rifleman).  PFC Holston was killed in action on 1 Jul 1944.

PFC Holston is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
