PVT Gregory Muldoon was born "Michael Gregory Muldoon" in Ballinamore, County Cavan, Ireland on 8 Apr 1906. He was the youngest of 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys, born to Peter and Anne (McGovern) Muldoon. His father Peter was a farmer and died in December 1906. Peter left an estate valued at £‪‪237 or about £‪‪29,000 in today's money ($39,400). His mother re-married soon after and had 2 more children. Gregory and his 3 siblings all emigrated to the United States arriving in New York not later than 2 Aug 1923. The sisters moved to Chicago and married. Gregory changed his name on immigration dropping the name "Michael" probably to avoid confusion with his brother. He and his brother lived with his oldest sister for a time in Chicago before Gregory followed his brother to California where he worked as a seaman and then a bookbinder. Gregory then went back east to Kent County, Rhode Island from which place he was drafted in December 1942.

After his basic training he was likely assigned to other units before he found himself in the replacement depot during D-Day, 6 Jun 1944. He was transferred from the replacement depot to G Company 116th Infantry on 13 Jun 1944. PVT Muldoon was killed in action on 14 Jun 1944.

PVT Muldoon rests forever in the Normandy American Cemetery.
