PFC Leonard Dickey

PFC Leonard Dickey was born 17 Feb 1921 in Connersville, Indiana to Willard and Ruth Ann (Lloyd) Dickey. Willard supported his family of 13 by farming.  Undoubtedly Leonard helped his father.  In 1940 Leonard apparently worked on playground maintenance for the city.

Leonard was drafted in February 1941.  He was with B Company 116th Infantry on D-Day but was apparently uninjured in the amphibious assault.  However, on 17 Jun 1944 PFC Dickey was killed in action.

He was repatriated in 1948 now rests forever in Dale Cemetery in Connersville, Indiana.

Older brother Walter served in the Navy during the war.
