PFC Patrick McDade

PFC Patrick McDade was born 31 Dec 1921 in Blantyre, Scotland. He was the 4th of 8 children born to John Joseph and Margaret (Whyte) McDade. His father was a native of Letterkenny, Ireland and his mother a native of Blantyre. The family emigrated to the U.S. in 1926 and settled in Detroit, Michigan where his father found work in an auto factory but later worked as a janitor for a church.

After entering the service and completing his initial training, Patrick was sent to the European theater. He was transferred from the replacement depot to E Company 116th Infantry on 19 Jun 1944. PFC McDade was killed in action on 12 Jul 1944.

PFC McDade is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
