PVT Otto Huber

courtesy of Robin Rowand
PVT Otto Huber was born 20 Jan 1914 in Augsburg, Germany as Otto Pfaffelhuber to John and "Fannie" Pfaffelhuber.  The family immigrated in 1928 and in 1934, Otto applied for citizenship and was naturalized.

Otto was a retail manager, perhaps in a delicatessen in Brooklyn where he lived, when he was drafted in November 1943.  After his basic training he was sent to Europe and on 7 Jul 1944 was transferred from the replacement depot to D Company 116th Infantry. On 11 Jul 1944, PVT Huber was killed in action.

PVT Huber was repatriated and is buried in Saint Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Otto's wife, Gertrude survived him and apparently never re-married.
