PVT Albert Falzini

PVT Albert Falzini was born 4 Jan 1913 in Cleveland, Ohio to Romolo and Romilde Dusalina Antonina (Pampinine) Falzini. Both of Albert's parents were Italian immigrants.  His father was a steel worker as were 2 of his older brothers who had been born in Italy.  A third brother farmed. In 1940 Albert was driving a truck.

Albert was drafted in November 1942.  After training he was sent overseas.  He was assigned to M Company 116th Infantry in the assault on Omaha Beach on the shores of "fortress Europe". According to the morning report, on 21 Jun 1944 he was promoted to SGT.  On 18 Jul 1944 he suffered a shrapnel wound to the shoulder but remained on duty.  On 4 Aug 1944, near Vire, Albert was killed in action.

All the post-mortem documents we have seen give his rank as PVT, only the morning report gives his rank as SGT as noted above.  Which is correct is unknown to us but we are using his official rank as shown on the headstone.

PVT Albert Falzini is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery
