PVT Gerald Alexander "Jerry" Greene

PVT Gerald Alexander "Jerry" Greene was born in Pennsylvania on 16 Oct 1921, the only child of Louis and Lillian (Scheininger) Greene. His father was an importer and the family lived in Brooklyn, New York where Jerry graduated from high school.

Jerry voluntarily enlisted in active service in June 1942.  He was sent to England and assigned to Headquarters 116th Infantry.  He made the landing with the unit but was wounded on 6 Jun 1944.  It is probable that he was on the same boat as COL Canham as all those on the second Headquarters boat were killed when it was hit by shellfire.  He was evacuated to England and died there on 16 Jun 1944.

PVT Greene was repatriated and is buried in Oheb Shalom Cemetery in Hillside, New Jersey.
