PVT Elmer Manen Gideon was born 3 Dec 1919 in Linn, Missouri to William Harrison and Grace Edith (Carter) Gideon. The family farmed near Linn. Then the family moved to Colorado and William died in Crowley, Colorado in 1927. The rest of the family moved to near Webb, Colorado where they continued to support themselves by farming.
Elmer was apparently still working the family farm when he was drafted in November 1942. Sent to Europe he was transferred from the replacement depot to I Company 116th Infantry on 15 Jul 1944. PVT Gideon was killed in action on 4 Aug 1944.
PVT Gideon was repatriated and is buried in
Holly Cemetery in Holly, Colorado.
