PVT Seymour Sandler was born 21 Jul 1924 in New York City, New York. He was the first of the 3 children born to George and Lillian Sandler. His father worked as a truck driver and selling birds. Seymour completed 4-years of high school and went to work perhaps driving a Checker Cab.
Seymour was drafted in April 1943. After his basic military training he was sent to the European theater. PVT Sandler was transferred from the replacement depot to F Company 116th Infantry on 15 Jul 1944. He fought with F Company through Saint-Lo to the drive on Vire and was killed in action on 4 Aug 1944.
PVT Sandler was repatriated and re-interred in the Mount Judah Cemetery in Ridgewood, New York.
