PFC Harold Wayne Paris

PFC Harold Wayne Paris was born 18 May 1922 in New Albany, Indiana. He was the 2nd child and son of Edgar Miller and Bessie Pearl (Tames) Paris. His father was a career firefighter in the New Albany. In 1939 Edgar had a reported income of $600 and paid $15 a month to rent the home at 312 West Main Street. Harold graduated from high school and went to work in a paint factory.

Harold was drafted in October 1942. After his basic military training he was sent to England and assigned to L Company 116th Infantry. He trained with the unit for the amphibious landing which took place at Omaha Beach on 6 Jun 1944. PFC Paris was killed in action on 8 Jun 1944.

PFC Paris was repatriated in 1949 and re-interred in the New Albany National Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.

Elder brother, Edgar Franklin Paris, served in the U.S. Army 1942-1945 attaining the rank of CPL.
