1LT Alfred S. Anderson was born in 1919 in Queens County, New York to Arthur S. and Ada Anderson. His father worked as a driver for many years and in 1940, Alfred was also working as a driver.
Alfred was drafted in November 1940. He must have demonstrated potential because he was sent to OCS and by 1944 was a 1LT and assigned to A Company 116th Infantry as that unit prepared for the amphibious assault on "fortress Europe". Alfred was with that unit on D-Day, 6 Jun 1944, for the assault when he was killed in action.
1LT Anderson is buried in Normandy American Cemetery.
