PFC George F. Eckardt was born 29 May 1914 in Bergen County, New Jersey to George Alexander and Martha (Myer) Eckardt. His father was a dairy farmer.
George was drafted in May 1942 and he was still working as a dairyman. He was sent to England and assigned to B Company 116th Infantry. He trained with that unit for the invasion of France and was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.
PFC Eckardt was apparently repatriated in 1952 and is buried in the Arlington Memorial Park in Kearny, New Jersey.
