PFC Walter Stanley Brinton

PFC Walter Stanley Brinton was born 29 Dec 1917 in Wilmington, Delaware to Willard Leighton and Viola (Cobb) Brinton.  Willard worked as a machinist in a shipyard and steel mill.  In 1940, Walter was working in a grocery.

In May 1942, Walter was drafted.  By this time, he too had started work as a machinist.  However it happened he was assigned to A Company 116th Infantry prior to D-Day and was killed in action with that unit as it attempted to land on Omaha Beach on 6 Jun 1944.

PFC Walter Brinton is buried in Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington, Delaware.

Brother Willard Leighton Brinton Jr and half-brother Edward Irenee Brinton also served in the war.
