PFC Claudie Swanson Jennings was born 22 Jan 1923 in Halifax County, Virginia to Heddley Ethel and Lelia (Coates) Jennings. The family farmed.
When he was drafted in February 1943, Claudie was farming. After he completed basic training he was sent to England and assigned to A Company 116th Infantry. He trained with that unit for the amphibious assault on the French beach code-named "Omaha". He was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944 as a part of that effort.
PFC Jennings was repatriated and is buried in the Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery in Nathalie, Virginia. Brother, Albert Lee Jennings, served in the Army from 1941 to 1945.
