PFC Conrad Vincent Kufta was born 25 Nov 1924 in Paterson, New Jersey the fifth of six children of Andrew Joseph and Anna M. (Killeany) Kufta. His father was born in Matiasaofef, Czechoslovakia (sic) and worked as a machinist in the airplane industry. Conrad attended St. John's Cathedral School and was a member of the class of 1942.
Conrad was drafted in May 1943 and was sent to England where he was assigned to B Company 116th Infantry. He trained with that unit for the amphibious operations in which they would participate to invade Hitler's "fortress Europe". PFC Kufta was killed in action in that effort on 6 Jun 1944.
PFC Kufta rests forever in the Calvary Cemetery in Paterson, New Jersey.
Brother, Arnold Joseph Kufta, also served during World War 2 (1942-1945).
