PFC Forest Luke Rosamond

PFC Forest Luke Rosamond was born 11 Oct 1921 in Winston County, Mississippi. He was the 3rd of 13 children born to Henderson Dee and Clara Igona (Luke) Rosamond. His family farmed. Luke married a woman named Esther sometime after 1940 but before he was drafted in December 1942.

After completing his basic military training he was sent to England and assigned to G Company 116th Infantry. He trained with that unit for the planned amphibious invasion of occupied Europe. He took part in that landing on 6 Jun 1944 in which he was wounded. PFC Rosamond died of his wound(s) on 7 Jun 1944 probably near Vierville-sur-mer, France.

PFC Rosamond was repatriated in 1947 and re-interred in the Mount Hebron Cemetery in Handle, Mississippi.
