PFC Garland B. Ashworth

PFC Garland B. Ashworth was born in 1921 in Chase City, Virginia to Marshall Anderson and Alice Lillian (Ashworth) Ashworth.  The family farmed and in 1940, Garland was farming with his father. 

Garland entered active service as a PVT with the Chase City, Virginia National Guard unit when in was federalized in February 1941.  Assigned to E Company 116th Infantry on D-Day, PFC Ashworth was wounded on 6 Jun 1944 and died on 7 Jun 1944. 

PFC Ashworth is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
