PFC Frank Sadusky was born and lived his life as Frank Sadowski but for some Army clerk who changed his name for his military service. He was born 29 Mar 1913 in Norwich, Connecticut and was the 3rd of the 6 children born to Sylvester and Rozalia (Rozanski) Sadowski. Both parents were natives of Suwalki, Poland and had immigrated in 1906. His father supported the family by working as a machine operator in a woolen mill and in a paper mill. The family was successful enough that Sylvester was able to purchase a home at 82 Spring Street in Norwich before 1920. Frank was working as a grinder for Van Tassel Leather Company by 1930 (at age 17). He was working as a painter of awnings for K B Church and Company in 1940 reporting earnings in 1939 of $936.
Frank was drafted in December 1942. After his basic military training he was sent to England and assigned to B Company 116th Infantry. He trained with his unit for the amphibious landing that was planned as part of the liberation of occupied Europe. PFC Sadusky was killed in action in that effort on 6 Jun 1944.
PFC Sadusky is buried as Frank Sadowski with his parents in the
Saint Joseph Cemetery in Norwich, Connecticut.
Both of Frank's brothers, Alexander Peter and Joseph John Sadowski, both served in the U.S. Army during WW2.
