PFC Henry John Lang

PFC Henry John Lang was born 7 Jun 1922 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to George J. and Katherine (Diel) Lang. Both parents were natives of "Russia".  We are not sure of the circumstances but his parents spent time in Argentina where his two oldest brothers were born.  The family entered the United States in 1913. His father worked in a "bridge works" in Milwaukee.

Henry left his job at Greenebaum Tanning Company and volunteered to serve in September 1942.  After his initial training he was sent to England where he was assigned to I Company 116th Infantry. Although he enlisted as "Henry" is name is given as "Helmut" in the morning report. Henry trained with the regiment for the amphibious assault that would ultimately be launched along the beach code-named "Omaha".  He was killed in action in that assault on 6 Jun 1944.

PFC Lang was repatriated in 1948 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
