PVT William Glenn Crawley

PVT William Glenn Crawley was born 12 Aug 1924 in Sale Creek, Tennessee to James Melvin and Laura Isabella (May) Crawley. The family farmed. In 1940 William is shown on the census as working on the farm and his father reports an income of $800 for 1939. 

When drafted in June 1943, William was still working on the farm.  Sent overseas and assigned to H Company 116th Infantry, William trained with the unit for the momentous amphibious assault on Hitler's "fortress Europe".  On 6 Jun 1944 he was killed in action in that assault. 

PVT William Glenn Crawley is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
