PFC Rosco Earnest Kidd

PFC Rosco Earnest Kidd was born 22 Feb 1919 in McCreary County, Kentucky to Rolan and Laura (Swain) Kidd.  The family farmed. Rosco was working in a saw mill in 1940 and reported a 1939 income of $200 and he was still living with his parents.

He is noted as being a farmer when drafted in October 1942.  After his basic training he was sent to England and assigned to F Company 116th Infantry where he trained for the anticipated amphibious invasion of the continent. He was with that unit when killed in action in that assault on 6 Jun 1944.

PFC Kidd was repatriated and rests forever with family members in Bethel Cemetery in Pine Knot, Kentucky.

Brother, Elmer Calab Kidd, served from 1943-1945. Grandfather, Larkin B. Kidd served as a PVT in G Company 49th Kentucky Infantry (US) in the Civil War.
