PVT Junior Graves
PVT Junior Graves was born 9 Jan 1923 in Franklin, Kentucky. He was the 3rd of 10 children born to Charles Miles and Bertha (Carter) Graves. His given name at birth was Charles but he apparently went by "Junior" his whole life. His father farmed, initially in Sumner County, Tennessee but the family move north to the adjoining Simpson County, Kentucky before 1920. Farming on the Mitchellville and Portland Road, like many farmers his father reported no income for 1939 but paid $20 a month rent. Junior was an unpaid family worker on the farm.
