PFC William Edwin Hughes

PFC William Edwin Hughes was born 6 Feb 1913 in Elwood City, Pennsylvania to George Morgan and Abigail Margaret (Curran) Hughes.  George Hughes, son of an Irish immigrant, was a carpenter and watchman. William worked as a laborer in a mill. 

When he was drafted in February 1942, William was noted as being single, and working as a clerk in an office.  He was eventually assigned to A Company 116th Infantry and boarded a landing craft the morning of 6 Jun 1944.  He died there on Omaha Beach.

PFC Hughes is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
