PVT Frutoso Ramos Chavez

PVT Frutoso Ramos Chavez was born 21 Jan 1922 in Pecos, Texas to Urbano Franco and Ysabel (Ramos) Chavez.  Urbano supported his family of 8 by working "odd jobs". In 1942 he was working for Lee Moor Construction Company. Frutoso married Juana Fierro on 11 May 1942 and they had a son in July 1943.

Frutoso was drafted and began his military service 27 Nov 1942.  He may have been assigned to the 407th and/or 402nd Infantry Regiments in the 102nd Infantry Division. He was assigned to E Company 116th Infantry and was serving with that unit on 6 Jun 1944 when he was killed in action in the assault on Omaha Beach.

PVT Chavez was repatriated and is buried in the Santa Rosa Cemetery in Pecos, Texas.
