PVT John N. Hughes

PVT John N. Hughes was born 22 Nov 1922 in Glenmore, Pennsylvania the son of Daniel Guldin and Ellen H. Hughes (the couple were unmarried).  John was raised in his maternal grandfather's home and by his mother. 

John was working in a warehouse when he was called to service in January 1943.  Trained as a rifleman and sent to England, he was assigned to H Company 116th Infantry.  On 6 Jun 1944 he was killed in action while participating with that unit in the amphibious assault on the French beaches of Normandy. 

PVT Hughes is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
