PVT Robert L. Krahenbuhl

PVT Robert L. Krahenbuhl was born 15 Aug 1924 in Independence, Missouri the third of five children born to Fritz and Matilda R. (Leithoff) Krahenbuhl.  The family farmed and Fritz was working as a janitor in 1940 with a reported 1939 income of $480. Robert and his siblings attended William Chrisman High School in Independence.

Robert entered Army service in July 1943.  He was sent to England after his basic training and assigned to E Company 116th Infantry.  He trained with that unit for the amphibious assault on the French beach code-named "Omaha".  He was killed in action in that attack on 6 Jun 1944.

PVT Krahenbuhl was repatriated in 1947 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.
