SSG Fred Wilson Goad

SSG Fred Wilson Goad, b. 9 Oct 1912 - d. 6 Jun 1944. Son of Marion Lee and Mary Eunice (Cox) Goad of Nester, VA and later Galax, VA. Fred enlisted 18 Apr 1941 and served in Headquarters 116th Infantry Regiment at the time of the D-Day landing. He was survived by his mother, 7 sisters and 1 brother.  His grave is in the Normandy American Cemetery.
