James J. Limber b. 7 Sep 1917 - d. 6 Jun 1944, born in Chicago to John
G. and Ella (Pontes) Limber. His mother died in 1928.
He enlisted on 2 Dec 1941 just 5-days
before Pearl Harbor. James was assigned to Headquarters 1st Battalion
116th Infantry on D-Day to serve as the Battalin S-2. 2LT Limber was wounded in both legs while making his way through the water then crawled on to the beach where a shell fragment hit him between the eyes and he was killed in action.
He was survived by his father and 4 siblings
and rests in the Normandy American Cemetery.
