PVT Herman Dunham Jr.

PVT Herman Dunham Jr was born 8 Sep 1924 to Herman and Laura Ruth (Griffith) Dunham in Gerrardstown, West Virginia.  His father farmed and worked in a stone quarry.

When he was drafted in June 1943 he was apparently working as a typesetter.  Sent overseas after training he was assigned to A Company 116th Infantry before the amphibious landing on Omaha beach.  PVT Dunham died 6 Jun 1944, killed in action landing with boat team #6.

PVT Dunham was returned to the U.S. in 1948 and is buried in Gerrardstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Gerrardstown, West Virginia.
